In 2026, we are building a solid infrastructure for MAiFF in its first edition. We are becoming more inclusive and diverse, inviting films internationally from Asia and beyond. Through our new vision, “UNBOUND,” we continue expanding connections between Canadian and international artists.

Our work is important – and we want to keep doing it. This year, like many other arts organisations, Arts East-West is facing major funding cuts.

Despite the hurdles, we haven’t stopped making an impact. Montreal is now the third Canadian city to host an international-scope Asian film festival.

Our goal is simple but profound: bringing Asian-Canadian voices to local, national, and global stages without boundaries.

And to achieve this, we ask for your support.

At our current level of funding, we can cover artists, screening & copyright fees, venue rentals, media campaign fees within basic rates.

But we believe that our artists, our team, and our guests all deserve more.

As MAiFF grows internationally, so do our needs. We want to increase the accessibility of our events, take the extra step for our artists, and compensate our staff.

With your support, we can:

• Cover travel and lodging costs for attending artists
• Increase honorariums and fees for artists
• Improve accessibility and offer subsidized tickets
• Fairly compensate our staff – this year, our team consists of 16 staff, 10+ of whom volunteer their time and talents for free.

Every cent goes directly to supporting artists and the local community.

We believe in strengthening solidarity between Asian-Canadian arts organisations.

We want to bring awareness to issues in the arts that are not usually talked about - like hurdles faced by Asian artists, fair wages, labour conditions, and so on.

Every contribution helps us pay our people fairly, welcome more artists, and keep this home open.
