A young biracial woman, Mira, struggles to find her place and purpose amongst her family members as they grieve the death of her Baba (grandfather). As the cremation takes place and the preparations are being made for the spreading of the Baba’s ashes Mira attempts to mend the estranged relationship she has with her Dadi (grandmother) in hope of finding familial and cultural validity for her grief.

Kaia Singh is a Canadian filmmaker, writer, and multidisciplinary artist known for her evocative storytelling and visually striking work. Her debut feature documentary, Moving Water (2023), explores themes of environmental justice, cultural identity, and resilience through the lens of water access in marginalized communities. Singh’s filmmaking blends poetic realism with investigative depth, often centering on underrepresented voices and pressing social issues. With a background in visual arts and journalism, she brings a unique perspective to documentary cinema, combining rigorous research with a deeply humanistic approach.
