Masoud Raouf
Masoud Raouf is an Iranian Canadian filmmaker, cinematographer, and visual artist known for his poetic storytelling and striking visual style. Born in Tehran, Iran, Raouf studied film at the University of Art in Tehran before expanding his work internationally. His films often explore themes of memory, displacement, and human connection through a blend of documentary and fiction techniques. Raouf gained recognition for his short films, including The Silence (2015) and Passage (2018), which have screened at prestigious festivals such as the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), Venice Film Festival, and IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam). His work has been praised for its lyrical cinematography and emotional depth, earning awards at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and Oberhausen International Short Film Festival. In addition to his filmmaking, Raouf has collaborated on multimedia installations and photography projects, further showcasing his multidisciplinary approach to visual storytelling. He continues to work on both independent and international co-productions, bridging Iranian cinema with global narratives.
