Synopsis:

Set in the 1990s Canadian prairies, Mongrels follows Sonny, a Korean widower who immigrates to Canada with his teenage son and young daughter. While he takes a job exterminating feral dogs, the family quietly battles isolation, grief, and cultural displacement. Told in three hauntingly beautiful chapters, this poetic short examines survival and identity across generations.

Winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and Emerging Canadian Director Award at VIFF, Mongrels is a stunning debut from Jerome Yoo.
