📣 Arts East-West’s First Look at BIFF: Competition 📣

3 jurors for the 31st BIFF New Currents Award. 

World-renowned film experts and industry professionals. 

An award for the undiscovered, hidden jewels of Asian cinema.

The New Currents Award is BIFF’s flagship competition, awarded to the best debut feature by up-and-coming Asian filmmakers. Meet the jurors who will champion these emerging talents:

‍

• Director Rima DAS; India; winner of the Kim Jiseok Award at BIFF and the Crystal Bear Special Mention at the Berlinale 

• Producer SHAN Zuolong; China; whose award-winning films have screened at the Cannes Film Festival, Venice International Film Festival, and Berlin International Film Festival

• Actor SHIM Eun-kyung; South Korea; winner of the Japan Academy Film Prize and the Kinema Junpo Award among others

A cash prize of USD 30,000 is included with the Award. The films are selected from the Competition or Vision sections of the festival, celebrating unique storytelling.

The MAiFF team looks forward to discovering the fresh voices shaping the future wave of Asian cinema at the 31st BIFF.
